MaiersNr8-Light Tipo de letra

MaiersNr8 Light, designed by Ingo Zimmermann and Karl O. Maier of ingoFont Augsburg, is a free graffiti font with tall, wiry lettering and an improvised street-drawn look. Rounded joins meet abrupt angles across the uneven strokes.

Its graffiti roots suit music posters and youth events with a loose marker-made voice. The narrow forms also fit fashion branding and casual merchandise. In publishing, it can turn a magazine opener into a piece of hand-drawn signage.

This font originated around 1900.

The script appears in a magazine from the Otto Maier publishing house in Ravensburg, issued sometime during the years immediately before World War I. The magazine, entitled Schriften-Sammlung für Techniker: Verkleinerte Schriften der wichtigsten Alphabete, was published by Karl O. Maier. The original copy, produced using a galvanized plate, is only 7 centimeters wide. It served as a model for technical professions in which drawing captions were still written by hand.

The characters were scanned, digitized, and greatly magnified. The uneven edges of the handwritten script were retained in the digitized version.

The fonts at ingoFonts can be downloaded free of charge. The downloadable files contain only a reduced font consisting of uppercase and lowercase letters from A to Z and a to z.
